LBI has again received the Gold Level STEP Award (Safety Training and Evaluation Process) in 2010 from the Associated Builders & Contractors in recognition of the company’s ongoing efforts in the development of a quality safety program.
LBI raised money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis by participating in the 2010 MS Walk. Our team “Ritalinda’s MSfits” brought in more than twice the revenue of the next team and was represented by 23 LBI employees and their family members along with 67 others.
This accreditation program publicly recognizes and honors those construction firms which have documented their commitment in four key areas of corporate responsibility: 1) Safety (STEP Gold or Platinum Level Required) 2) Employee Benefits 3) Training 4) Community Relations
LBI has negotiated their seventh contract with St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The $3.4M Phase II Parish Life Center has begun and is scheduled for completion in 13 months.
Joseph Lee of LBI has been elected and assumes the role of President of the North Section Alabama Associated General Contractors for 2010 & 2011 and will serve on the Alabama AGC State Board of Directors during these years. The AGC is an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry related companies dedicated to skill, integrity, responsibility, improving the construction industry, improving the quality of construction, and protecting the public interest. www.agc.org
LBI has been awarded 2 new projects at NASA totaling $875,000 that would start within the next two months and a $1.6 Million New Family Life Center historical renovation and addition for the Central Presbyterian Church.
LBI will receive the “2009 Excellence in Construction” awards at the Associated Builders & Contractors Award Banquet Friday, November 20. The ABC "Excellence in Construction" program is a nationwide program that publicly recognizes quality and innovation in the construction industry. Bruce Lee, Sr. Project Manager, and Tony Lee, Superintendent, will accept the Award of Excellence in the Renovation - Under $4 Million Category and the “2009 General Contractor Project of the Year” Award for the Scottsboro Police Department. Sean Lee, Project Manager, and Charlie Redifer, Superintendent, will accept the Award of Excellence in the Institutional $5-10 Million Category for Buckhorn High School.
LBI has just completed the $6.5M Buckhorn HS renovation & addition in time for this school year and is beginning the $5.5M Albertville HS Gymnasium. We have begun and will complete several separate Alabama A&M University projects this year: A&M Stephens, A&M McCormic, A&M Chambers, A&M Carver, and A&M Ralph Lee. We have begun the State of Alabama’s Forensic Science Lab Renovation, the $5.4M NASA Building 4707 project, and the Gardner & Gardner Dental Offices.
Shea Thomas, LBI Project Manager, has just received certificates from the National Center for Construction Education and Research as an instructor and will teach at the North Alabama Craft Training Foundation. Sean Lee, LBI Project Manager, has been an instructor since 2007 and is on the NACTF Board of Directors.

Bruce Lee, Sr. Project Manager, Tavio Gonzalez, Project Manager, and Windle Green, Superintendent, accepted the Award of Excellence in the Renovation $10-100 Million Category for the Huntsville Madison County Jail. Sean Lee, Project Manager, and Paul Bergmann, Superintendent, accepted the Merit Award in the Renovation Less than $4 Million Category for Lexus of Huntsville.

We are mid-project on the $3M Scottsboro Police Department renovation & addition, $2.5M Lexus renovation, and $1.4M Douglas High School addition. Paul Bergman-LBI Superintendent, breaks ground at Lexus for owner, Ellenae Fairhurst. Mayor Spencer, Sean Lee-LBI Project Manager, Steve Schneider-Architect, and others attended. The project is a negotiated $2.7M renovation scheduled for completion in December 2008.

Shea Thomas, Project Manager, and Pat O’Reilly, Superintendent, accepted the first place award for LBI in the Institutional Under $5 Million Category for Providence Baptist Church.
Lee Builders, Inc. (LBI) is beginning several new negotiated projects: St John’s Catholic Church Sanctuary, Superior Bank in Cullman, Star Market Remodel, and Cove United Methodist Church. LBI also bid, won, and has begun the Central Presbyterian Church and the gym & classroom addition for Julian Newman Elementary School in Athens.
Shea Thomas & Joseph Lee of Lee Builders, Inc. (LBI) attended the ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers) Technical Conference on "Going Green" that addressed the key sustainability issues and changes coming in our industry. Specific topics included: testing methods, school energy guides, reducing energy & providing good ventilation, and zero energy buildings. www.ashrae.org

Joseph Lee of Lee Builders, Inc. (LBI) teamed up with SKT Architects to participate in Canstruction® 2007. Canstruction® combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed hungry people. Sculptures are designed and built entirely out of canned foods by the teams. This local project helped increase awareness and brought in more than 8000 cans of food that were donated to the Food Bank of North Alabama. www.canstruction.com
Joseph Lee, General Manager of Lee Builders, Inc. (LBI) visited Washington as a representative from the small business community with three members of the Food Bank of North Alabama. They met with Representative Bud Cramer, Representative Robert Aderholt, Senator Jeff Sessions’ Legislative Correspondent, and Senator Richard Shelby’s Chief of Staff to discuss the upcoming Farm Bill and the affect some of its provisions would have on Food Bank services. The Food Bank of North Alabama solicits, warehouses, and distributes food product in support of North Alabama's needy, ill and children. Bobby and Joe Lee of Lee Builders, Inc. (LBI) attended a formal dedication ceremony for the Madison County Health Department. Dr. Lawrence L. Robey, Madison County Health Officer stated during the ceremony, “This is the first time that all public health programs operate under one roof.” He also praised LBI for their willingness and ability to work with and around excited MCHD employees and both LBI and the architect, JH Partners, for providing a new facility that everyone can be proud of.

Lee Builders, Inc. (LBI) was awarded the Huntsville Madison County Jail contract in September of 2006. This was a competitively negotiated contract for remediation and completion of this new state-of-the-art facility for the City of Huntsville and Madison County.
